India Single-Day Event, Bangalore – 29 July 2017

The inaugural edition of SCDM’s series of Single Day Events in India was held on July 29th in Bangalore. The overwhelmingly successful event focused on the theme of CDM: Digital Version 3.0 – Utilizing Advanced Technology to break through the Constraints of Time, Cost and Quality. The event was well received with participation from widespread Industry Leaders and young budding talents in the area of Clinical Data Management. The number of attendees greatly surpassed expectations, with 160 participants: an indication of the marvellous growth in action and in store for SCDM across India and Asia. Two further Single Day Events are planned for 2017, the first in Hyderabad on October 28th and Mumbai on December 9th. 

The event was led by Mayank Anand (Director from INC Research), co-chaired by Shankar Arun (India Head and Vice President- Chiltern) and Praveen Dass (Country Head and Vice President Quanticate). Highlights of the event included particularly memorable keynote speeches: the first of these was provided by Hemant Rehani (Global Head of Life Sciences, Cognizant) on the topic – How technology disruption is changing clinical research landscape – beginning the conference on an inspiring note.

Two workshops were conducted as parallel sessions.  Sujith Kurup and Debu Moni Baruah from Bioclinica facilitated an Industry Workshop on: Connecting dots: Technological Approach for Data Review & Analysis. 

Indegene and Chiltern collaborated with an academic workshop on Bridging gap between Data Manager and Data Sciences.   Dr.Deepak Kallubundi, Anita Kumari, Praneetha Bolar, Priyanka M, Dhinakaran Manoharan, Harish Chandrashekar, Dhaneswar Moharana, Sanjay Mondal facilitated the session.

A White Paper presentation from Praveen Arokiaraj (Director Data Management: ICON) on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in CDM was very well received.

The key note from Sowmyanarayan Srinivasan (Life Sciences R&D Executive: Accenture) on Evolving role of mHealth in conduct of clinical trials concluded the session, offering participants many ideas upon which to reflect.
